The jury evaluated the Brose Drive S Mag as a ‘new benchmark in the e-mountain bike segment’ in the ‘components (offroad)’ category. The combination of compact design, natural power delivery and high performance convinced the panelists during a rigorous two-week evaluation. “It particularly impressed us how well this powerhouse can be controlled. Thanks to its speed and torque-dependent control in ‘Flex Power Mode’, the Drive S Mag delivers its power very naturally and reacts even more directly to the rider´s input.”
Thanks to its magnesium housing, the drive is 500 grams lighter and 15 percent smaller than previous versions. This results in a particularly high power density. “We have taken a bold step forward with the development of the Drive S Mag,” says Dr. Joachim Volland, Head of Brose Antriebstechnik. “We were the first, and so far the only manufacturer to successfully use magnesium as the material for this drive’s specially-designed housing. Winning this award shortly after the launch of the Drive S Mag confirms that we’re on the right track.”
The award, presented in January, once again honoured products that offer bikers genuine added value – the innovations encompass groundbreaking and tangible new functions that prove their worth during intensive practical tests. The evaluation criteria of the award include the degree of innovation, quality, efficiency and performance, plus soft skills such as sustainability, vision and ethics. Members of the jury and test team include staff of the magazines ENDURO, E–MOUNTAINBIKE and GRAN FONDO, plus bike industry insiders and specialists from outside the industry.
