We are the first e-bike drive manufacturer to offer a concept that enables us to make individual assemblies or components from old drives usable again.
As part of the "Brose Circular Economy" used drives have therefore been disassembled, cleaned, repaired, and, if necessary, replaced at our facility in Berlin since 2023 to restore the drive to as-new condition.
Our remanufacturing program saves at least 13 kilograms of C02 compared with the use of new parts - and that's per drive. This sets new standards for eco-friendly mobility.
The Reman Drive meets the same Brose quality standards and is in no way inferior to a new drive. The disassembly, cleaning and testing concepts are in place and are constantly being improved. All improvement measures in the series are also implemented in the Reman Drives.
A Reman Drive is cheaper than a new drive. The warranty in the EU is as previously stated 2 years.
How can you personally support the circular economy?
There are many measures to implement the climate targets - and the circular economy is one of the most important. The processing and recycling of used products or individual components considerably extends their service life. Compared to disposal and new production, this approach results in significantly reduced CO2 emissions.
For e-bike users, this means that a bike that is no longer used should not be thrown away or stored at home. The better alternative is to take it to a specialist dealer, where the reconditioning process can be started.
In Germany, we participate in the GRS take-back system. Our dealers can order recycling garbage cans for the battery free of charge. The costs for this are covered by Brose. Every new battery that is placed on the market is reported back to GRS within Germany. The batteries are taken to GRS recycling partners within Germany. Apart from the electrolyte and individual components, everything is recycled (60-80%).
Within the EU, we offer the service via the company Go4Recycling. The dealer can contact our service partner directly. Here too, we pay the service fees for recycling. Outside the EU, the OEM partner is responsible for the take-back and recycling process.
